Can You Write?
Status:

Welcome to the Can You Write? website.
Here you can:

  • Read articles, poems, stories, tales
  • Comment on them and give them stars
  • Upload your own work for comments and a monthly prize.
  • Get your piece in early, and encourage your friends to review and rate it...
  • The prize for every month will vary - £25 cash in July 08, to revive the world economy, plus a copy of Powerstone: Stealing the Scottish Crown Jewels, the forthcoming novel by Malcolm Archibald. For November 2007, it was a book of Marmite's poems, generously donated by him.
  • Follow his example (and Alan Bennett's too) and donate a prize
  • Dave Brooks has agreed to continue as an independent rater and judge. Dave is a previous prize-winner and discerning critic.
  • If you want to communicate with him, you can email him here
  • The prize will only be awarded to a new piece that has been rated by TEN people or more.
  • Pieces over the word limit, or in several parts may be excluded or edited
  • The final decision on the prize-winner will be mine, taking account of Dave's reviews and the ratings of other reviewers.
  • Older pieces have been archived, but are still visible (and worth reading)
  • Read more about the vision and concept here
  • Any comments on the new process are very welcome. Email Zander by clicking here

  • You can look at the article titles and see if anything catches your eye by clicking the links below. If you find a story you would like to read or comment upon, or if you'd like to show others what you can do through these pages, you will need to register at no cost (other than staying alert and persistent through the registration process) with Can You Write. (This site sends an email to the email address you give, and you have to answer that to activate your registration: fiddly but normal.) Your personal details are safeguarded by our privacy policy.
